AlphaTheta announced the HDJ-F9 wireless DJ headphones on October 15, 2026, with SonicLink wireless monitoring and a compact on-ear design. Its official U.S. store lists them at $349 and in stock as of October 20. DJs using equipment without SonicLink also need a separate transmitter, bringing the combined U.S. price to $508 before tax.
SonicLink handles low-latency monitoring; Bluetooth is a separate listening option.
HDJ-F9 wireless DJ headphones use SonicLink for monitoring
AlphaTheta rates SonicLink latency as low as 9 milliseconds. Its product page compares that with roughly 200–300 milliseconds for Bluetooth using standard codecs.
Touch Pairing connects the headphones to supported equipment such as the DJM-V5 by touching them to the mixer. The DJM-V5 needs current firmware for that feature. For gear without SonicLink, the separately sold HP-TX01 provides the wireless connection.
The U.S. transmitter listing shows $159 and in-stock availability as of October 20. The transmitter connects to the mixer's monitor output, sending the headphone signal over SonicLink.
Battery life depends on the connection and lights
The HDJ-F9 specifications give SonicLink playback at about seven hours with the Status LED lit and nine hours with it switched off. Bluetooth is rated at about 13 and 25 hours respectively. AlphaTheta notes that operating time varies with volume and the audio being played.
The HP-TX01 has its own battery: AlphaTheta lists about nine hours of playback and roughly four hours to recharge it. The headphones take approximately 2.5 hours to recharge. AlphaTheta also rates a 30-minute headphone charge for approximately 2.5 hours of SonicLink use. Include both units in the pre-gig charging routine.
Fit and a wired option
The headphones weigh 285 grams without the cable and use 40 mm drivers. Swiveling hangers and a flexible headband support one-ear monitoring or resting them on the shoulder. The included coiled cable allows wired monitoring and runs from 1.2 meters to approximately three meters when extended.
AlphaTheta specifies a PHONE or 3.5 mm stereo mini monitor output for the HP-TX01. That is the connection to check on your mixer before budgeting for wireless monitoring.
