Moon by Malio's is scheduled to open Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Pass-a-Grille, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Derek and Jen Iavarone's seafood restaurant takes over the former Dewey space at 109 8th Avenue, inside the Berkeley Beach Club.
Moon has a main dining room and a lower patio for dinner. The restaurant's OpenTable page limits rooftop visits to customers who have booked dinner. Cocktails and dessert are offered upstairs on either side of the meal.
Moon by Malio's rooftop and dining room
The Tampa Bay Times reports that the rooftop overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and Pass-a-Grille Channel, with full moon parties planned. Across the dining room, patio and rooftop, the restaurant has about 200 seats. Jen Iavarone's interior design uses rattan furniture, warm lighting and coastal colors.
Seafood, pasta and a family dessert
The Tampa Bay Times identifies Corrie Dietrich as executive chef across the Malio's restaurants and Dina Kuchkuda as Moon's sommelier. Among the dishes in its menu preview are customizable seafood towers with optional caviar, handmade tagliolini and ravioli, and Snapper Scottato al Limone. The snapper comes with lemon broth, fennel, capers and artichokes. For dessert, it describes Derek Iavarone's mother's biscotti served with pistachio gelato. OpenTable separately lists beef and pork from Creekstone, alongside seafood and house-made pasta.
For groups, OpenTable lists private-event space across the indoor and outdoor areas, including the rooftop. It describes options for dinners, celebrations, business gatherings, rehearsal dinners and receptions.
The space after The Dewey
St. Pete Rising reports that The Dewey never reopened after hurricane damage in 2024. Berkeley Beach Club owners Helen and Dave Feinberg renovated the restaurant space after buying the property. The Iavarones also operate Malio's Prime Steakhouse in downtown Tampa and Malio's Beach House in St. Pete Beach.
Dinner hours and reservations
OpenTable lists Tuesday through Saturday dinner hours of 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., a business casual dress code and street parking. St. Pete Rising's June preview described plans for lunch, happy hour and Saturday brunch; the current reservation listing gives dinner hours only and does not confirm those daytime plans.
